Quarantine Day 5 & 6

Day 5

7:30 AM: Ignored the incessant banging from Oliver in his bedroom for as long as I could until I finally got up.

8:00 AM: He has all of a sudden become a picky eater and refuses to eat almost anything. Fruit is a pretty safe bet but he barely touched the bowl. This is not the time to waste food Ollie-Bear! Doesn’t he get it?

The rest of the kids claim they don’t want breakfast because they are in the basement watching a show. I bet their tune will change once we are in the car for our mural scavenger hunt and there will surely be shrieks of starvation I’ll have to contend with.

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM: We do our mural hop of murals around Chicago! We found about 20! And there were so many more we spotted from the car and just didn’t stop for a closer look. Talk about a fun way to practice social distancing as well as learn about art, culture, and different neighborhoods!

3:30 PM: Home and the kids rush straight to the basement for the TV that they clearly sorely missed. Looks like Victorious is the amusement of choice. I clean up the main floor of the house and try and relax a smidge before dinner. Shoot, I have to go into work tonight don’t I?

The Governor of Illinois issued a state wide shutdown / “shelter in place.” It sounds pretty similar to what we have already been doing. Only essential shopping, going to essential jobs (like mine) and still allowing walks and being outside as long as you aren’t close to other people. Cool. We are already 5 days into this and handling it just fine. I hope I can still get takeout… will have to read up more on the specifics.

5:00 PM: Dinner

6:00 PM: Silly face scavenger hunt around the neighborhood.

7:00 PM: Bedtime

10:30 PM: Off to work.

11:15 PM: I guess there is a printout I need to put in my car in case I get pulled over when driving to and from work? Tp prove I am going somewhere essential? Seems overkill but better safe than sorry I guess.

Day 6

8:30 AM: Came home from work to find all the kids around the table. Tried to keep my eyes open and was failing hard.

9:00 AM: Tried to nap while the kids watched Toy Story (it’s the only movie that will hold Oliver in place). Couldn’t sleep through the incessant whining, and being smacked in the face.

1:00 PM: Got to retreat up to the bedroom and sleep for real. Did not wake up again until 8:30 PM. #thirdshiftlife

8:30 PM: Decided nighttime was as good a time as any to clean and so I cleaned and disinfected the kitchen, cleaned the playroom / basement. Separated the giant mountain of laundry. Made it to S2E04 of Westworld. #winning
