A Board Game the Whole Family Can Enjoy!
Thanks to a collaboration with Mom Select, we were introduced to a new, generational based, trivia board game called Mind the Gap from Solid Roots. We invited our extended family over to give the game a whirl and the result were laughs, groans, and family bonding.
This would be a great board game to have on hand as the holidays near and small groups of families come together. For a lot of us, family members are the only people we are interacting with socially these days. And since outdoor, summer, activities are soon to come to a close… board games are making a come back!
From Boomer to Gen Z, race around the board answering trivia through 4 generations! And a great thing about it is that it’s really versatile. Our first go around we split the teams up by their actual generation but you could also have a team made up of multiple generations helping each other answer the questions.
It’s like Jeopardy meets charades when you land on a challenge card! Hum or dance out a popular culture reference while your team or a challenged team guess the answer.
I also like how so many people can play. From 4 people to 16 people, or more! You can organize your teams however you like!
As a millennial myself, many of the Boomer and Gen X questions seemed really hard but I am sure that is just my perspective. Depending on how cutthroat you are, you may not be as prone to helping other team members with hints when they were stuck but when our family played we kept it pretty laid back. It was neat just being able to learn new trivia!
And there are a large amount of trivia cards in many categories. We had a winner and finished the game in about 90 minutes but we only went through maybe 1/8 of the cards! This is a game you can play again and again for years!
Our 4 children were too young to play but we included them by utilizing their help to act out the challenge cards, letting them roll the dice, and being in charge of the timer. (And man were they serious about telling us our time was up!)
Only con I can think of? Boomers, bring your glasses, the print was pretty small!
But hey, don’t take my word for it! Follow the above link to purchase the game for your own family!
